To help you choose the best time to visit, we have broken up our six-month season into four distinct timeframes, each with their own highlights. May and June is spring at Nimmo Bay, July and August is the height of summer fun, September is for anglers and bear viewers and then October is the month we affectionately call our wild season. We expand on the unique features of these sub-seasons below.
Spring at Nimmo Bay
As the days grow warmer and longer, May and June are the perfect months to dive into wellness and culinary exploration. Slow down to align with the rhythms of nature by taking time to intentionally shift away from the winter months and recharge for the summer ahead. While spot prawn season is at it’s peak, the kelp is ripe for harvest and the wilderness is coming alive, take the time to reconnect with nature’s bounty.
Summer in the Great Bear Rainforest
If you are looking for a luxury summer camp for all ages, look no further. Nimmo Bay in July and August is the ideal destination for multi-generational family trips and experiencing the best of the West Coast during sunniest and driest time of the year. Enjoy warm days paddling or boating the waterways, wildlife viewing during peak marine mammal season and swimming in the mild waters of sheltered bays. Early Autumn
The salmon start to return to the streams and the bears are active on the shores. Our returning guests secure their space years in advance knowing that September is in high demand for its beauty, abundance and charm. For those interested in bear viewing or our helicopter fly-fishing experiences, the early autumn is prime time.
The Wild Season
October offers guests a final opportunity to immerse themselves in the tranquility of nature before winter sets in. October is characterized by wilder weather, cozy spaces, and the full intensity of the rainforest. It’s a beautiful time to visit for those looking to catch the tail end of the bears and salmon season and embrace the wild surroundings before nature settles in for its winter repose.
