The Benefits of Getting a Facial

Treat yourself to a wilderness spa experience

One of the true self-care indulgences in this world is getting a facial. This wilderness spa experience is a time to embrace a little pampering and make it all about prioritizing yourself. Sink into relaxation with our newest wellness resort offering, the lineup of Botanical Facials at Nimmo Bay. Our wellness team will cleanse, moisturize, exfoliate, and customize this experience to fit your specific skin type and needs.

The Benefits

We often think of a full body massage as the ultimate form of spa relaxation, yet, there is rarely a moment where your face isn’t active throughout the day. Your face has 43 muscles that are working overtime to bring your emotions and expressions to life. During your luxury facial experience, hydrating ingredients are gently applied and massaged into your face. These techniques can relieve tension, increase blood flow, promote cell growth, and decrease fluid and puffiness from your lymphatic system.

“The Nimmo Bay facial was the reset and relaxation that not only my skin needed, but body and soul. I was so nurtured, with every step full of intention, thought and care. It left my skin glowing and smooth and my mind rested and ready for our next Nimmo experience.”

Creating Our Own Facial Experience

When the Nimmo Bay Wellness Team dreamed up the idea of creating this facial experience, it made sense to craft our very own luxury spa products. We found our perfect collaborative partner in Kristen Lambourne of Forest Etiquette and got to work! The goal was to create a unique 5-product set that would work harmoniously together on your skin and reflect the natural coastal British Columbia surroundings. Nimmo Bay’s Head of Wellness, Bianca Lorage worked with Kristen to hand-select each product. This is how the dream Nimmo Bay facial set came to life in the Great Bear Rainforest.

Who is Forest Etiquette?

Kristen created Forest Etiquette in 2019 on Vancouver Island. Her goal was to combine traditional herbalism with natural actives. She focuses on making hand-crafted natural, organic, and wildcrafted skin and self-care products.

It started with Kristen’s desire to weave her passions together. From growing up on a farm surrounded by greenery and animals, to her love of gardening and nutrition. It all led to a dedication to wildcrafting, plants, and herbalism. For those who are new to the term, wildcrafting is an alternative word for foraging. It felt like a natural progression to move toward starting her own skin and self-care brand.

Their Philosophy

The products that Kristen creates use what’s growing locally on Vancouver Island. It’s important for Kristen to have her hands in all stages of a plant’s lifecycle. She oversees these plants from growth, to harvesting, to drying. Only then will they go into the oil, cream, salt, or scrub that she’s making. This ensures they are as fresh and potent as possible.

In harmony with these skin loving plant ingredients, Kristen uses natural actives in many of her products. A natural active is something like an essential nutrient or chemical compound that naturally occurs in either our skin or in our world. They are rigorously tested to prove that the benefits of the ingredient are true. An example of this is niacinamide, a form of vitamin B-3. It’s proven to improve hydration, even skin tone, and support your skins microbiome. Kristen loves to pair a natural active ingredient like niacinamide with yarrow, oat straw, calendula, or other plants that are soothing and gentle on the skin. By combining natural actives with wildcrafted plants, you’ve got a potent combination.

It’s Kristen’s dream that these products she creates will spark and sustain little rituals of self-care in your everyday life. This facial kit is no different.

“When we start to understand how to care for ourselves and not take ourselves for granted, we’re going to inevitably do the same in our homes, in our relationships, in our environments, in the world.”

What’s In the Facial Kit?

1. Rose Facial Mist

This is a soothing facial mist made with damask and wild rose hydrosols, witch hazel, aloe vera, and hyaluronic acid.

2. Flower Child Serum

Flower Child is a potent fruit, flower and peptide serum that can be used on all skin types. It’s water based, antioxidant rich, firming and hydrating, created to support and sustain skin health. This serum encourages cell turn over, repairs free radical damage, and provides deep, long lasting skin hydration.

3. Dandelion Wildflower Face Cream

A gentle, wild crafted dandelion, calendula, and elderflower infused facial cream with ferulic acid and ceramide complex that moisturizes the skin. Dandelion leaf and flower extracts have also been proven effective as protection against the degradation of UVB radiation from sun exposure.

4. Daybreak Scrub

This scrub can be used 1-2 times each week to encourage cell turnover and slough away dead cells while lifting excess dirt and oil from the skin. It is an oleogel based facial exfoliant and polish made with organic cold pressed rosehip seed oil, bamboo stem extract, and rose clay.

5. Moon Water Gel Mask

Moon Water is a hyaluronic acid, snow mushroom polysaccharide, and sea kelp gel mask. It’s like a long cool drink for thirsty skin! Plant extracts and amino acids also work to further hydrate, smooth, tone, and scavenge free radicals. This can be used 1-3 times each week for dryer skin types to hydrate, tighten, and tone the skin.

Hero Ingredients

These are just a few of the hero ingredients that your skin will soak up.

Wild Rose

Abundant in vitamins A, C, and E, as well as flavonoids and tannins. Wild rose has natural antiseptic qualities, as well as hydrating and soothing elements that clarify and smooth the skin. It’s known to reduce the appearance of pores and improve skin tone and texture.

Ferulic Acid

A powerful antioxidant and anti-aging agent that acts in cohesion with other antioxidants like vitamin C and E. Ferulic acid is shown to neutralize several damaging free radicals such as superoxide, hydroxyl radical and nitric oxide and prevent damages to skin cells caused by ultraviolet light.

Snow Mushroom

Is known for its moisturizing effects, anti-aging properties, and skin brightening. It’s called a “moisture magnet” as it is rich in naturally occurring, plant based hyaluronic acid, increasing its ability to hydrate deeper layers of the skin.

Dandelion

The leaf, flower, and root extracts are rich in vitamins A, C, E, and K, and high in antioxidants. It has proven effective at safeguarding skin from free radicals and signs of aging, plus protects from UVB damage, is antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory.
