A Kid Friendly Vacation

Planning your Next Family Vacation

There is lots to consider when planning your next family vacation and there are a few basics you might typically keeping in mind. What kind of activities are there for the kids? Are you able to spend time all-together? Is it a safe space? Are there opportunities for enrichment and learning? And how practical is travel planning?

Well, we’ve got you covered! Nimmo Bay has been a family-run resort from the very beginning, over 40 years ago, and we pride ourselves on being an accommodating destination for people of all ages! Outdoor Adventures Everyone Can Enjoy

Spending time outdoors is the hallmark of the Nimmo Bay experience. If your kids love the outdoors, or maybe could just use a hearty dose of green outside the city limits, Nimmo Bay can cater to both newcomers to the wilderness and those who thrive in the outdoors. We’ll keep you busy with kayaking, paddleboarding, and hydro-biking. We have double kayaks and canoes so that you can pilot them around the inlets safely. And you can’t forget about the endless time spent jumping off docks into the cool ocean waters on a hot day.

Once the ocean adventures have been thoroughly enjoyed, it’s time to explore the forest. Our guides will take your family into the woods, where we have hiking trails tailored to all different skill levels. During the hike, your kids will learn all about the local flora and fauna in the region and maybe even go spelunking for forest faeries.

Hands-On Exploration

Woven into these outdoor adventures are plenty of learning opportunities. Our expert guide team will lead each and every excursion and teach you about our local ecosystems, indigenous culture, and conservation efforts happening in the Great Bear Rainforest. You won’t find anywhere better for hands-on learning experiences. Go out on a Coastal Safari and visit your own private island where your kids can explore what the oceans tide pools have offered up. They’ll discover sea critters for the first time, up close and personal, like starfish, shore crabs, sea cucumbers, and urchins.

When you’re out on your excursions you’ll even have the opportunity to view some of the incredible wildlife that call the Great Bear Rainforest home. Both you and your kids will marvel at these animals, including black bears, eagles, and whales. The animals your children have seen in their storybooks will come to life at Nimmo Bay. The awe on their faces is something you won’t ever forget.

Resort Amenities

Having a comfortable space for quiet time amongst the excitement and adventures is equally important. Our private cabins come in a variety of layouts to suit your family’s needs, with stunning views and cozy amenities. From kid-sized robes and slippers to Nimmo Bay colouring books and journals in the cabins, your kids will love some down time in your special home away from home.

Whether you have a picky-eater or an ambitious taste tester, our restaurant, Little River offers fresh, locally sourced meals, with plenty of kid-friendly options. There’s no need to worry about a dress code either. While the dining room is beautiful, your family will feel comfortable if you choose to dress-up for a special evening or show up in your cozy and casual attire. Plus, we promise there will be at least one snack time dedicated to our favourite classic campfire treat, s’mores! It’s always a hit.

Family Connections

Nimmo Bay offers the ideal setting to connect during your family’s time away. In today’s world where we’re always on the move and in constant contact with everyone, it can be challenging to put everything down and relax. At the resort, we have no cell reception, limited wifi and naturally promote less screen time. Both you and your kids can put down the tech and connect on a deeper level with each other.

Even though most of our activities can accommodate both you and your kids, there might be moments where you would like to spend time in adult company. If you want a bit of time away to go on your own adventures, enjoy wellness treatments, have a date night or a wine tasting, we do also offer pre-booked nanny services.

A Day Just for the Kids

We’re excited to share that we’ll be rolling out our brand-new kid’s enhancement in 2025. This enhancement is designed to be the best day ever for your littles. Whether younger or older, the day’s activities will be tailored to match their age, skills, and interests. Do you have an outdoorsy nature lover?  We’ll have a day designed around learning how to be a Nimmo Bay guide. Jump into survival lessons, radio training, foraging or fishing! They can take what they’ve caught and learn to filet a fish in the afternoon. It’s all about learning new wilderness skills!

Are your kids’ big fans of arts and crafts? Our guides will take them beach combing to collect beautiful shells and rocks to use in a fun afternoon craft session. Or, if you’ve got a little chef on your hands, we’ll set them up with their own apron and make cookies with our pastry chef.

We’ll Take Care of the Planning

But the most important part of it all, is that we will take care of all the planning. From the flights to your daily activities and meals, our team will handle each and every detail. Your only job will be to focus on having the best possible time with your family. The memories that are made at Nimmo Bay will last a lifetime. We’ve had many instances where kids who once visited with their parents, are now bringing their own families, years later. They never forgot the life changing moments they experienced in the Great Bear Rainforest.
