Located on the northwest coast of British Columbia, the Great Bear Rainforest is the largest coastal temperate rainforest on Earth, extending from the Discovery Island range up to the BC/Alaska boundary in the north. With the exception of Vancouver Island and the Haida Gwaii archipelago, the Great Bear’s footprint includes all of the offshore islands.
In 2009, approximately 16,000 square kilometers of the region was designated as a protected area, prohibiting timber harvesting and commercial hydro-electric power projects. At Nimmo Bay, we’re proud to be a part of the conservation efforts working to ensure the Great Bear Rainforest remains a pure ecosystem.
We invite you to explore the area with us, creating memories that will last your lifetime and taking steps to ensure your grandchildren are able to enjoy it in the same way.
