Nimmo Bay Resort is accessible by air or water. The resort itself is the only development in the area and there is no road access. We are a truly remote experience and getting here is part of the adventure! We have set arrival and departure times which take place in the late afternoon and early evening. Due to our location and size, we cannot accommodate early arrivals. Please be sure to check with us before securing your travel plans. Transfers in/out of the lodge are not included in our Nimmo Bay packages, however, we are here and available to assist with all travel arrangements from Vancouver on.

Private Charter to/from Nimmo Bay
Guests can book private charter floatplanes between Vancouver, Tofino, Victoria or Seattle direct to/from Nimmo Bay. There are various floatplane companies, floatplane types, and levels of comfort. If you’re looking for a more private, exclusive and direct transfer, this is a great option for you! Please inquire with our team for quotes. Please note, direct charters must still arrive within our set arrival and departure times. Charters are based on availability.

Fly directly into Nimmo Bay with VIH Execujet’s Cessna Caravan Amphibian, a versatile floatplane available for charter. With the capability of landing on either land or water, all you have to do is sit back, relax and take in the amazing views of British Columbia’s coast. The VIH Caravan has leather interiors, seats up to 7 guests, is incredibly spacious and is the fastest and smoothest flight option available on the coast. It is also the only floatplane in BC that serves in-flight beverages and snacks. Harbour Air Seaplanes
Charter options include Victoria, Nanaimo or Vancouver direct to Nimmo Bay, ranging from 1 to 2-hour flights.
Charter a floatplane directly from Vancouver to Nimmo Bay. The flight is between 1.5 to 2-hours.
Consider NW Seaplanes if you are looking to charter a flight from Seattle. This is about a 3-hour trip, which includes a stop in Nanaimo to go through customs, before continuing to Nimmo Bay.

Vancouver to Port Hardy
Commercial Flight from Vancouver to Port Hardy
Most people choose to travel to Nimmo Bay from Vancouver with Pacific Coastal Airlines, a provincial airline which offers direct flights between Vancouver and Port Hardy. Pacific Coastal has not confirmed their schedule for the 2019 spring/summer/fall season, so we will confirm flight numbers in the new year. Typically, they offer a mid-afternoon flight from Vancouver to Port Hardy and an evening flight from Port Hardy to Vancouver. This is a 1-hour flight and Nimmo Bay guests do receive a preferred rate, so please allow us to assist you with this booking.
Private Aircraft to/from Port Hardy
Port Hardy Airport (YZT), located at the northern-end of Vancouver Island, is the closest airport to Nimmo Bay Resort and accepts all planes up to a 737 in size. For those travelling from the United States via private aircraft, please be aware that pilots are responsible for reporting themselves, their crew and passengers to a telephone reporting centre by calling 1-888-CANPASS at least 2 hours before but no more than 48 hours prior to the aircraft’s estimated time of arrival in Canada. Please check with us before securing your travel plans. Once in Port Hardy, guests will fly by floatplane or helicopter (depending on the package they have booked) direct to Nimmo Bay. Port Hardy to Nimmo Bay
Nimmo Bay is remotely located in the Southern Great Bear Rainforest and getting to Nimmo Bay is part of the adventure! Nimmo Bay has scheduled, round-trip charter floatplane transfers between Port Hardy and Nimmo Bay. This 20-minute floatplane trip lines up with our arrivals/departures, as well as specific flights with Pacific Coastal Airlines. Floatplane transfers are $170 CAD per person, one-way, which will be added to your Nimmo Bay invoice once transfer information is confirmed.
For guests who have booked a full Heli-Fishing or Heli-Venture package (meaning you have the helicopter booked for every day of your trip) your heli-transfer between Nimmo Bay and Port Hardy will be included.
Connecting to/from International Flights:
Pacific Coastal Airlines is based in Vancouver’s South Terminal Airport, which is a 10 to 15-minute drive from the Main Terminal. For your convenience, there is a complimentary shuttle between the Main Terminal and the South Terminal, or you are welcome to take a taxi between terminals. To learn more about the shuttle service click here. Please allow at least 2 hours between flight connections through Vancouver’s Main Terminal and your Pacific Coastal flight at the South Terminal. If you are planning to arrive in Vancouver on the day of your arrival, please be sure to land in Vancouver by 1pm to allow time for customs, baggage collection, terminal transfer and to check-in with the airline. If you are booking international flights from Vancouver the night of your Nimmo Bay departure, please book flights no earlier than 9pm.

Driving to/from Port Hardy
Guests who enjoy driving can drive to/from Port Hardy. Please note that Port Hardy is on the northern tip of Vancouver Island and the drive can make for a long and scenic journey (from Vancouver you are required to take BC Ferries, the ferry ride and drive is about an 8-hour adventure). Please contact our office so that we can advise on the best plan and/or if you will require an overnight along the way. Parking is available, and both Budget and National have car rental offices, at the Port Hardy Airport.
