As our 2018 season comes to an end, we take the time to reflect and give thanks to all of you, our guests, our team, our family, and to the amazing adventures and wild stories that were shared.
Like an unforgettable sunset, we look back on the journey with fond memories and season highlights.
It was a year of exciting adventures from sea-level to mountaintops and beyond. From paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking, freediving, glacier tours, eagle-eye views, west coast beach days, and fly fishing excursions, 2018 was packed to the brim with extraordinary wilderness experiences and activities…
Wilderness and Wildlife
We love celebrating the biodiversity and richness of this region with our guests and this year was no exception! Wildlife highlights included spy-hopping orcas, bubble-net feeding humpbacks, lounging sea lions, soaring eagles, and Pacific-white sided dolphins spread out as far as the eye can see.
We have a healthy population of black bears residing in the area, often spotted along the rocky shoreline as they forage for shellfish, seaweed, and crustaceans. Morning kayak excursions are always a memorable way to start the day, as the calm water of the bay provides exceptional opportunities for nature photography and possible bear sightings!
In the fall, resident grizzly bears come down to the river estuaries, following the return of spawning salmon. In October, our experienced guide team and guests watched in wonder as a sow and her three cubs feasted on salmon, preparing for the winter months ahead. Observing these magnificent animals in their natural habitat is an experience like no other! Although wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, our guides are well versed in the local area and always do their best to get guests to where the action is.
We welcomed a new boat “Fathom” to our fleet this summer. An asymmetric catamaran built by Armstrong Marine USA in partnership with Jutson Marine Design.
Unique in both function and style, we are excited for future wilderness adventures and guest experiences in and around the Broughton Archipelago on this new addition in 2019!
Wild Within Wellness
Our new, intentional experience is an invitation for guests to create a healing shift within. This transformative escape is for those looking to reconnect with themselves and nature while sinking into the rhythms of the wild. The experience goes beyond the physical body to address the mind-body connection, balancing rest, meditation, activity, and nourishment. We received some exceptional feedback from our first season of this offering and look forward to seeing where this journey takes our guests in 2019.
- “A restorative, gently paced day with plenty of space to meditate and reflect. The day began at a secluded floating sauna and included an outdoor rain shower, energy work, and intuitive guidance with a massage and wellness therapist.”
- “Every moment was perfect, every detail taken care of – we are leaving renewed and refreshed and already dreaming of our return.”
- “In this natural and remote location, you’ll feel a unique harmony with the elements around you—which makes it a magical place to practice mindfulness, reconnect with your body, and emerge feeling renewed.”

Floating Wilderness Sauna
In the spring of 2018, our friends at ANIÁN joined our Nimmo Bay team to build a dream – a floating sauna, nestled amongst the wilderness! Accessible by kayak or boat, discover where nurture meets nature. Inside this Finnish-style, yellow cedar sanctuary, relax and listen to the crackle of the wood stove and take in the view of the bay through the large picture window. Refresh between sessions by taking a dip in the cool ocean water or by breathing in the fresh, wild air from the dock.

Our gym was updated this season! Guests and team members share this facility and love it not only for the bright space but also for the incredible views overlooking the bay.
Food: Always a Part of the Adventure
Dining highlights included spit roasts on the fire dock, BBQ lunches on a glacier, raw bar set-ups on the back of a boat, crab boil nights, beautifully-crafted canapés, and a new wine program, to name a few.
We had a number of guests celebrating special occasions with us this season and our sommelier team loved encouraging them to try their turn at sabering a bottle of bubbly on the dock! Tradition claims that a clean break symbolizes victory for the upcoming battle. Cheers to that!
New: Short Film
